The Cover – Draft 2

The selling line could say something like ‘Multi genre magazine about multi genre music’ or something as this shows the different idea that this magazine was built up of, I also think that would work well as the selling line as it simple says that my magazine is not like others. And this might make people want to read it. It will be in the font of Viner Hand ITC because I like this one more out of the two that was chosen by my target audience through my questionnaires. And it will be written in purple because it is one of the more striking colours of the colour scheme against the black background.

The masthead I have changed to ‘About Darken Tech’ but this doesn't word that well so on my cover I am going to call it 'Dark Tech' and I chose to do this now as it as this shows more about what you will find in the magazine. It tells you that it is about all of the genres of music and this is helped by the selling line. This too will be in the font of Viner Hand ITC as I like it better than the other. But ‘About’ will be in a different font so that it stands out. This is because I want to stress the fact that it talks about all types of music genre. And it will be written in blue because it is one of the more striking colours of the colour scheme against the black background and because it is my favourite colour.

Cover line 1might have a title like ‘About the top 50 downloads’ as that is what is going to be in the article. And this also gives me the chance to make the ‘About’ the same as in the masthead so that they stand out together and shows that this magazine is different right from the start. The cover line will be in the font of Old English Text MT. I this as this was the other font that was wanted by my target audience. This will be written in white as it is another colour of the colour scheme and I think that it adds to the character of the magazine.

Cover line 2 might talk about either free ticket to a concert or about money off a new iPod. This is because I want to create interested in my magazine so that people will be more likely to buy and read it. The cover line will be in the font of Old English Text MT and I did this as this was the other font that was wanted by my target audience. And this also gives me the chance to make the ‘About’ the same as in the masthead so that they stand out together and shows that this magazine is different right from the start. And this cover line will also be in white like the other.

Cover line 3 is going to be about a Gothic band. It might have a title like ‘reviewed singles list from Evanesence’. This will be in the font of Old English Text MT this is because goes with the other two cover lines. And this also gives me the chance to make the ‘About’ the same as in the masthead so that they stand out together and shows that this magazine is different right from the start. But this cover line will be in purple unlike the other two cover lines. This is done so that it creates more interest in the magazine and it also makes the magazine stand out from the others.

In my next draft I might angle the cover lines and put the text into shapes not just rectangles.

The main cover line will be about the upcoming band – “The Three Shooting Stars”. It will be in the font of Viner Hand ITC, I thought that this would make the cover line stand out more than the others, as it will be in the same font as the masthead. And this also gives me the chance to make the ‘About’ the same as in the masthead so that they stand out together and shows that this magazine is different right from the start. And it will also be in blue like the masthead, to help it stand out from the out cover lines.

The girl on the left will be looking at their violin with their hair completely covering their face. I think that this will create some mystery about her and go with the underlining Gothic theme. She will be wearing jeans, a black top and a colourful scarf. The colours that she is wearing go with the Nightcore genre of the magazine.

The girl on the middle there will be a girl looking at her guitar and their hair slighting a little over their face. They will be wearing black jeans and lots of other colours. This goes more with the Nightcore side of the magazine.

The girl on the right hand side of the page will be holding a microphone and she will be staring out at the reader. And she will be wearing dark jeans, a black top (with some colour on it) and a black and silver scarf. This will be more the border line of Gothic and Nightcore.

The price will be on the left hand side towards the bottom of the page. It will be in old fashioned text and will be white. I decided to put it here as that is where most magazines locate it, and it is also out of the way of the main image.

And the bar code will be in black and white, and will be located in the bottom left hand corner of the page.
