Evaluation - Introduction

‘Dark Tech’ is a magazine that was created to be for both genders from the age of 16 - 25. This is shown though out the whole design as there are lots of bright colours which are liked by most people of this age range. Also people of this age will be in college or maybe have their own house, this means that they are likely to have a note board, and Dark Teach reflects this well on its contents page as the images are 'held on the page' with pins, tape, and blue tack. There is also ripped paper on the contents page and the double page spread, shows the scrap bites of paper that they would use for quick notes and to do lists.

Double Page Spread Final

This is my final double page spread; it is not that different from draft 4. But I took everything that was said by my friends and I used all of it.

The first person wanted me to take out the tape, as this was too much for the pages; I ask some of my other friends about this and they agreed that the tape should go, so I deleted them. And they also wanted me make the background a little darker so that it made the light blue of the questions pop out of the page a little more, making it easier to read. which is what I did, I used Photoshop to darken the image and I also added some gray into the image to give it that extra Gothic look.

The second person wanted me to make the title the dark blue so that the whole colour schemed was being used on the pages. So this is what I did. And they reminded me that I haven’t added the page number yet, but when I did add them I made them the dark blue as well, but this made the one on the left hard to read over the image so I gave it a black box. I did this because it was also hard to read the light blue over the image.

The third person that I also told me that I had not yet added the page numbers, but that was the only thing that they didn't like about it.

Feed Back for Double Page Spread Person 3

Image Choices
I think that it will look better without the tape on the images.

Title and Who it was by
I like how it is written in the same font as on the contents page.

Content
I really like how the first and most important paragraph is right across the page. I also like how the questions are in a different colour and font to the rest of the article.

Colour Template
I like how the colour has stayed the same all the way through the magazine.

Improvements
- add the page numbers.

Image Choices
I really like the images that you have used and I also like how the one on the left on the page as it looks like she is sitting on the edge of the paper.

Title and Who it was by
I like the title but I think that it could be better in a darker colour.

Content
The contents of the article really brings out the techno side of yuor magazine.

Colour Template
Its good that you have kept the same colour scheme and not added another colour like what you were thinking of ealier as not doing this helps it to fit in with other magazine.

Other Design Choices
I like how you have reused the ripped paper idea that you used on the contents page and the then used the idea again when you ripped the image so that it focuses on the person in the image.

Improvements
- The title could do with being darker.
- And you need to put in the page numbers, I that it will look really good it you make then the darker blue to.

Image Choices

I really like all of the images that you have chosen to use, and they all fit your genre very well. And I also like how the one on the right hand side at the bottom looks like it has been ripped out of it’s own photo.

Title and Who it was by

I like how the colours used for your title and who it is by reflecting how it was done on the contents page, this helps to tie the double paged spread into the magazine.

Article

I like how the first paragraph of the article goes all the way across the left hand page.

Colour Template

I really like how you have not used to many colours and how they are the same all the way through. I also like how all the colours that are used all link together and link through out the magazine. But the background colour and the light blue colour that was used make it a little hard to read.

Other Design Choices
I like how the you have used effects on the images so they look like they are photos that you could pick up of the page. I also like the way that you have pu them so they look like you have just dropped them onto the page.

Improvements

- I think that it could look better if you didn't have the tap holding down the photos, it's clear way you have done it that way as it links in with the contents page but still, you might get on better if you didn't. But even then you have linked to the rest of the magazine in some other places so you don't really need the tap there for the page to fit in.

- Going back to what I said about the background colour and the light blue colour being to near a colour, if you make the background darker then it should fit with the genre and everything and it will make it easier to read to.
