1) Mix MagIt has two columns. The left column is bigger than the right column. There is also a band under the two columns, which holds more columns of content. In the left column is the main photo, which also has the page number and the article title in the bottom left corner of the shot.
There are two other
smaller images on the page, also with the page number and the article title.
At the bottom of the page
on the right hand side is the page number. The title is at the top of the page
on the right hand side, but the date of the issue is in the middle top and the
name of the magazine is on the left hand side at the top of the page.
They mainly use black,
white and yellow on the page. Which follows the same colour scheme that they
used on the front cover of the magazine. The colours in the main image on the
cover and the main picture of this contents page are more or less the same to.
There are one
sub-category, which is ‘features’ and under this is the articles that are
relevant. There are some other articles that are named and that show their page
number in the banner of black at the bottom of the page.
2) Rolling Stone
2) Rolling Stone
It has two columns; the left one is thinner than the
left one. On the right hand side column there is the main image of the page,
under this image is the title of the article that it is relevant to and the
page number of where the article is in the magazine. There is also the start of
the article to give you a taster of what is in it, so that you can decide if
you like it.
On this page there is not the title or the name of the
magazine. There isn’t even the date that the magazine was issued.
It uses the black and white of the front cover but it
doesn’t use the orange. Instead of the used a pinkie/purple colour, this go
against what other magazines like to do but it dose stop the reader from
getting board of the same colour scheme all the time.
It has no sub-category.
3) Q
3) Q
The Q’s logo is right at the top of the page with the
title of the page beside it. The title is in white and there is on a black
banner. On the other side of the banner is the date that the magazine was
published.
They have used 2 columns; the left column is thinner
than right side.
The main image is on the right hand and takes up most
of the page. It relates to the article on page 38. I know this as it is written
in red and has the title of the article is written in black.
There is one other image on the page at the bottom
middle. This also has the page number and the title of the article that it is
relevant to.
The colour scheme for this page is the same as the
cover (red, white and black), which is the same for the rest of the magazine.
There are three sub-categories; one is ‘features’. The second is ‘every month’
and the last is ‘review’. Under these sub-categories are the names and the page
numbers of the articles that fit that description.
4) NME
4) NME
There is three columns to
this page. The one on the left is the thinnest of the three and the one on the
right is the second smallest. This leaves the middle column to be the biggest
one. The left hand column and the middle column are cut short at the bottom of
the page by a black box, which talks about subscribing and give you the contact
details.
The main image is in the
middle column, and it has the page number and the title of the article that it
is relevant to at the bottom of shot. But the other images on the page are two
past magazines in the subscribe box.
At the top of the page there
is another black box that shortens the middle column and the right hand side
one. In this black box is the name of the magazine on the left and the title of
this page on the right. Unlike other magazines, this one hasn’t called this
page the ‘contents’ page, they have called it ‘this week’ which makes them
stand out from the others a bit. Just under the top black box is another that
only shortens the right hand side column, in this box is the date that the
magazine was issued.
They have used the same
colour scheme on this page as what they did on the front cover. And they have
also kept the newspaper type style.
They have five different
sub-categories, called ‘news’, ‘radar’, ‘reviews’, ‘live!’, and ‘features’.
These all have different page numbers and titles of the articles the fit this
description under the relevant one.
5) Kerrang
When they write, they use
language that is chatty and informal as this appeals to their target audience
and help them to get more.

This page is covered with
mostly images. This give the reader an inside to what is in the magazine before
they even read the text. The main image is the biggest one on the left hand
side in the middle. This image is relevant to the article on page 28.
Each of the images has a
page number (mostly under the image), this works well if the reader wants to
read that article before any other and it also shows the relevance of each of
the photos. Showing that they are not just randomly place there, to make the
page more interesting. There is some text next to each of the images’ numbers;
this is to show what article the image is relevant to. This helps a lot if
there is more than one article on the page.
The same colour scheme is
used throughout the magazine and it is always the same colour scheme, yellow,
white and black. This makes it easily recognizable for the readers.
The title of the page stands
out because of the contrast of the two colours that they have chosen to use.
The text of the contents
page is always in black and yellow. This follows their style. Another thing
that follows their style is having the 2 columns, but they still divided the 2
columns using some of the images.
